Following the release of her Glorious debut album and new singles "Body Talk" and "Feet Don't Fail Me Now", English singer/songwriter and GRAMMY winner Foxes has unveiled the official second single off her upcoming sophomore album, All I Need. Co-written and featuring Dan Smith, lead single of Bastille, the new "Better Love" is a soaring and emotional pop ballad that wastes no time in hitting a chord with the listener, with a choir background, honest message and a powerful vocal performance.
After giving fans a taste of the 80s with the sultry "Body Talk", the solid "Better Love" focuses attention of Foxes' new inspiration for songwriting as she shares personal details of a struggling, unsatisfying relationship. The revealing verses lead up to a strong, catchy and brilliant chorus that showcases the underrated talents of the pop singer and her ability to craft an infectious, joyous hook.
As the singer sounds confident and controlled throughout the track, Foxes breaks emotionally and appears vulnerable as she realizes the lover she currently has may not be all she needs. "And it's haunting me, these feet of mine, won't let me march away," the artist confesses as a sweeping mix of piano, percussion and strings come through to support Foxes' tender and fragile vocal delivery.
"Better Love" is an undeniable, straightforward, pop-leaning release, a sound that was present on Foxes' debut album but not fully used to its ultimate advantage. After hearing the artist on the golden "Clarity" with Zedd, as well as on her own songs such as "Holding Onto Heaven" and "Let Go For Tonight", it appears Foxes is not afraid of venturing into the Top 40, radio-friendly, pop/dance genre. Her new single is easily one of the most intriguing and exciting releases for the genre this year.
Her second studio album may have been pushed back from its original October 2015 release date, to early February 2016, but with powerful, relatable songs such as "Better Love", it seems like Foxes' next full length project will definitely be worth the extended wait. Glorious may not have received the amount of attention it deserved, but the underrated artist is working to make sure that does not happen with All I Need.
